Why do I need dental implants?
Dental implants can be an ideal solution for a missing tooth, or teeth, if you would prefer something that is fixed in the mouth and is not removable, like a denture.
When a Bridges is not possible, dental implants can help to avoid extra strain on teeth either side of the missing tooth.
Dental implants can also be used to help stabilise lower full dentures if patients are having problems.
What happens when I have dental implants?
Implants require careful planning to ensure there is sufficient bone to support the implants so that they can be placed in the correct position to allow natural replacement of the missing tooth/teeth.
Once the planning has been completed the implants can be placed.
At Wollaton Dental Care we work closely with a local specialist practice who use top quality Straumann implants, they will place the implant(s) as arranged and then refer you back to us for us to complete the rest of the work.
Crowns or bridges can usually be placed on top of the implants around six weeks after the implant surgery has been completed.
How long do dental implants last?
Implants can offer an excellent long term replacement for a missing teeth, however they do not last forever and can suffer from similar issues to gum disease if not cared for correctly.
