What are dental implants?
A dental implant is the closest replacement for a natural tooth available. If you have lost a tooth and need it replacing, then a dental implant could be a good solution for you. An artificial tooth root is placed into the jaw which then integrates into the bone. Crowns, bridges or even dentures can then be placed on top of the implant to replace the part of the missing tooth that is visible in your smile.
What happens when I have dental implants?
Implants require careful planning to ensure there is sufficient bone to support the implants so that they can be placed in the correct position to allow natural replacement of the missing tooth/teeth.
Once the planning has been completed the implants can be placed.
At Wollaton Dental Care we use top quality Straumann implants, this is to allow the best conditions for your treatment to proceed smoothly and predictably.
Crowns or bridges can usually be placed on top of the implants around eight to twelve weeks after the implant surgery has been completed.
How long do dental implants last?
Implants can offer an excellent long term replacement for a missing teeth, however they do not last forever and can suffer from similar issues to natural teeth, such as gum disease (peri-implantitis) if not planned and cared for correctly.
How much do dental implants cost?
There is a large range of treatment options to consider when planning dental implants.
Each patient is treated on a case by case basis and your dentist will discuss all options available and come up with a bespoke treatment plan for you.
As a guide, dental implant treatments start from £3100. If you are ‘shopping around’ be wary of much cheaper quoted prices. They often have ‘hidden extras’. An implant is no good without the crown that is fitted on top of it! A Wollaton Dental Care Implant price includes the full implant process from your initial appointment to the fitting of the crown and after care. The only additional costs would be a CT scan at a cost of around £220 or if any additional treatments were needed such as bone grafting for more complex cases. This costs an additional £480.
Dental implants are not included in our care plans.
