Why do I need dental implants?
Dental implants can be an ideal solution for a missing tooth, or teeth, if you would prefer something that is fixed in the mouth and is not removable, like a denture.
When Bridges are not possible or not the only solution, dental implants could also be an option and can help to avoid extra strain on teeth either side of the missing tooth.
Dental implants can also be used to help stabilise lower full dentures if patients are having problems.
What happens when I have dental implants?
Implants require careful planning to ensure there is sufficient bone to support the implants so that they can be placed in the correct position to allow natural replacement of the missing tooth/teeth.
Once the planning has been completed the implants can be placed.
At Wollaton Dental Care we use top quality Straumann implants, this allows to ensure the best conditions for your treatment to proceed smoothly and predictably.
Crowns or bridges can usually be placed on top of the implants around eight to twelve weeks after the implant surgery has been completed.
How long do dental implants last?
Implants can offer an excellent long term replacement for a missing teeth, however they do not last forever and can suffer from similar issues to gum disease if not cared for correctly.
